An illustration of three students in an art class at Joliet Junior College, working on creative projects with an art easel and a laptop, with the college logo and a QR code at the bottom.

This recruitment poster for JJC’s Art programs is designed to attract high school students by presenting a creative, inclusive, and engaging environment. The illustration of diverse students actively participating in different art forms reinforces a sense of belonging and shows that the program is accessible to everyone. The use of bright, vibrant colors reflects creativity, energy, and optimism, while also subtly emphasizing equality and individuality. Franklin Gothic was chosen for the headline because of its bold, clean, and highly legible presence, making it effective at grabbing attention, while Arial supports the subheadline with a simple, neutral tone that keeps the focus on the message without adding visual clutter. One challenge in this project was finding the right placement for the main character, so the composition felt balanced without overcrowding the scene, along with selecting a typeface that added value instead of competing with the illustration.
